Cigarette butt recycling for industrial and logistics sites

Industrial sites, 24/7 logistics platforms, factories, warehouses: the share of smokers is on average higher than in offices, the activity spreads across three successive shifts, and the fire risk is real. Our cigarette butt service is calibrated to this reality, not to the comfort of a headquarters.

  • High-capacity ashtrays (up to 10,000 cigarette butts) with certified fire-safe hood
  • Collection adapted to 24/7 operations and on-site logistics constraints
  • Compliance with classified-industrial-site rules and industrial waste obligations (waste transfer note required)
  • Robust fixings to withstand the heavy footfall of industrial sites

The specific stakes

Three issues that shape the service for industrial sites

01

Real fire risk and insurance

In industrial environments, a poorly extinguished cigarette butt near a storage zone (pallets, flammable materials, hydrocarbons, gas) is one of the top causes of fire starts. Insurers factor this risk into their multi-risk pricing. Our Easy Premium ashtrays are fitted with a certified fire-safe metal hood that instantly extinguishes deposited butts. This is a non-negotiable requirement we treat as standard, not as an option.

02

24/7 operations and on-site logistics

An industrial site never stops: three successive shifts, staggered breaks, controlled access (badge, security guard, security plan). Our clikeco rounds are scheduled in slots compatible with your operations — usually during the day but adjustable. Rotations are monthly at high-traffic sites, quarterly elsewhere. Everything is documented upstream with your site management to avoid surprises for the security team or EHS.

03

Classified industrial sites, EU SUP Directive and waste obligations

Classified industrial sites (Seveso-equivalent installations under the EU Industrial Emissions Directive) are subject to strict waste monitoring: mandatory register, declared tonnages, documented streams. Cigarette butts, classified as hazardous waste, must travel under a waste transfer note. Our quarterly waste transfer note feeds directly into your environmental declaration or your waste register, and provides documentary proof of your material- or energy-recovery stream.

Typical configurations

Three examples of set-ups deployed in industry

Small industrial site or warehouse (50 to 200 employees) — 3 to 6 robust Easy Premium ashtrays distributed across the authorised break zones (away from storage areas). Quarterly collection. Sorting-awareness signage integrated with the ashtray. Automatic quarterly waste transfer note.

Logistics platform or medium-sized factory (200 to 800 employees) — 8 to 15 ashtrays distributed across equipped smoking shelters, building entrances and team rest areas. Monthly collection. Peasy awareness campaign deployed with on-site signage and an EHS briefing integrated into the rollout. Quarterly waste transfer note + annual report for inclusion in your classified-site waste management plan.

Large industrial site or multi-site group — Phased roll-out over 2 to 4 months depending on scope, group framework contract, single point of contact on the Easy to Change side. Coordination with your EHS team and real-estate department to respect traffic zones, evacuation plans and insurance constraints. This is typically the configuration we operate for groups such as Air Liquide, TotalEnergies or Constellium.

The operational network

A value chain calibrated for industrial requirements

In industrial environments, the robustness of the treatment stream is a topic in itself. Your EHS teams and your auditors will want to understand exactly where the collected cigarette butts end up. Our answer: a single French industrial partner for material recycling, and a tracked national logistics network.

Recycling is operated by MéGO, the first French plant dedicated to material recycling of cigarette butts, based in Brittany. The filter is washed, dried, and turned into plastic granulate reused in street furniture. National logistics are handled by clikeco, an approved operator managing hazardous-waste flows for French industrial clients, with automatic waste transfer note generation. On certain multi-stream sites, our regional social-economy partners (Ostreya, Lemon Tri, Elise) can take over to bundle the service with your other office waste if you wish.
